Cambodia Battambang

This is the second largest city in Cambodia and tough this is usually not a criteria for travelling there it was our connceting point to go to Siemp Reap, the nearest city to Angkor Wat.

The surroudnings of this town were beautiful and exciting.
We travelled with a Bamboo train. At the beginning we didnt really know what we should expect. After all, what is a bamboo train? It s really all hidden in the name. 4 wheels on 2 eternally looking straight rails and a bamboo board. Our first obstacle we have encountered at our departure. Someone was coming the oposite direction on the same rails that we were on. So what happens. One of the trains had to be taken of the rails completely so the others could pass. after passing, the train was lifted back by 2 men on the rails and we could finally start our journey.
On the way we mostly passed rice fields, kids waving their hands at us, oxes that were exhausted from the heat and a bunch of butterflys that our bodies have killed on the way to the village.

At our destination we have arrived to a village with a brick factory. The rest of the village seemed pretty laid back. Most of the huts were on heels to prevent the house to be flooded during the monsoon season and underneath the houses families were lying in hammoks, resting from the hot hot hot hot hot climate while kids were playing with marbles in the sand.

Other destinations after the bamboo train were some temples which were all old, beautiful and reminders of the glorious days of the Angkors.
